Hipsatmatic: iDroste: Percolator

All right, today's post is reminiscent of Pop Art. I made this shot using some water bottles at Starbucks while I was waiting for my Latte. It was made with the Hipstamatic App set to: Bettie XL Lens: Alfred Infrared Film: and Dreampop Flash. This is the straight shot out of the iPhone. I didn't know what I was going to do with it when I shot it but I liked the symmetry of the displayed bottles and the light coming through them.
Having enjoyed the effects of a border on an image in the app iDroste I thought I would run this image through that app and see what I could come up with. So I came up with a few fun patterns like these:

 

While I liked the pattern but I did not like that the water bottle was still recognizable, so I put the image through the Percolator app, because I thought the style of Percolator fit the image potential. 

This is the original image run through Percolator. Now that I had what I wanted, I decided to try iDroste again to see what I could come up with..

And I landed here! Whimsical. 

I used the app Diptic to put some samples in a frame like this to show some of the many variations:

Tea..and iDroste designs

In the late afternoon the sun streams through my kitchen windows. Yesterday afternoon, I had just boiled a pot of hot water to make some tea, and as I poured it into the mug I noticed the steam vaporizing into the air and grabbed my iPhone to see what it would do. Well what fun, I was able to get this image just by tilting the phone and managing the light hitting the opening of the lens. After capturing the image I made some filter applications such as PicGrunger for a bit of antiquing and for the border. Later in the evening I saw an image created by a fellow iPhoneographer that was made by taking an image of a coffee cup and running it through the app iDroste. It was really cool. So I tried running the tea image here through iDroste and the resulting images below were the result after moving some sliders to get the effect. I enjoyed the Art Deco designs that appeared in the tea colored tone. This result is a bit different than previous iDroste images as I chose to use the image that already had a frame on it hence the strong linear effects here.

 

TrigonScope and iDroste an insane and fun combo of endless opportunity

Last nights post was on the TrigonScope app and tonight I have a few combined apps to share. First I want to say.......philosophically this is way beyond photography, although the base image originates from a photo........I think this moves into the digital art realm, and I might say I love it! My background in art, painting and sketching is surfacing in some of the digital art apps for the iPhone. The images here were made first with the TrigonScope app. Then they were processed in ArtistaOil to give them a texture like fabric or canvas. Then the base image was "played" with in iDroste. iDroste is an app with an M.C. Escher~like creative opportunity...its crazy fun! the base image is actually a shot of what was on my computer screen when I was playing with the TrigonScope app. It was a gallery of images on Flicker!
